ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Matilde Hollander is a Montessori Bilingual teacher and Children’s Author who has worked for over 30 years as a Bilingual Education in the Bay Area and has dedicated her retirement to specializing in Bilingual Book Readings. She is a widely recognized bilingual presenter and advocate. Her presentations are fun, often with music, and she provides research and presentations to new teachers in the field of Bilingual Education. She often reads at the local public libraries and is an avid advocate for early age second language acquisition.
Through her teaching work she saw language barriers and a need to help language newcomers and recognized that often ESL parents do not have a voice and are in need of support. In addition to language barriers, parents struggle with idiomatic expressions and cultural differences in the United States. For example, often these parents are unable to meet the basic requirements to read to their children in English. She has used her creativity with languages to provide bilingual materials and helped to improve communication between parents, teachers, and school Personnel, including strategies for “Parent Engagement” and “Readiness For School”. She decided she could fulfill one of the biggest needs by providing books that represent multiculturalism and diversity in the classroom.
This is one of the many reasons why her bilingual books are so popular. Her books allow parents to read in their very own language while simultaneously learning the English language. “It’s a win-win situation!,” she says. Matilde Hollander holds a Montessori teacher Credential, a Director’s License, and an MBA. She is the Founder of Bilingual Books Company and has authored 4 children’s books in 10 languages.
